When Your Parents Move Away

For those of us who are young adults such as myself, we're more familiar with the idea of moving ourselves away from home. However, there always remains the possibility of returning to familiar places and familiar faces in accordance with the passing of holidays and other marked occasions scattered throughout the year.

But there then comes a time when your parents move away. My dad and his family are soon making their way to the Philippines to start a new life. While I'll miss him and his family, it's the right move for him, Luz, James and Olivia and I'll think they can only gain from the experience.

It's a bit strange to think that I'll never return to that house in FL during which I spent my middle and high school years, learning about the world and learning about myself. Perhaps in these times where the world is flat and everything is accessible via the interwebs, I'm placing too much emphasis on a single point, a single place in space.

As we grow older, we become fonder of what was then as we look back through our rose-tinted glasses. Yet, time moves in only one direction  forward.
