Letter to Self

Letter to SelfWritten 29 Sep 2013.

Dear Steven,

This is the second time you've written a letter to yourself. The last time was Preview. Since then you've really grown as a person, but now I think it's your job to help others grow. You've been passed a torch, a heavy one at that, to bring light to others. I think you can do that as long as you remember to never stop caring. You have a beautiful Council with big hopes and bigger dreams. More than just knowing them, help realize them. You now have that ability.

This year, try not to wear yourself too hard. You don't [need] to do everything and engage in every opportunity around you. You have value already, and do not need to derive this value from positions on campus. Find joy in yourself, and be accepting of your challenges and flaws. You have a long way to go, but plenty of time to get there.

Try finding love. You invest a lot of your time in your school, involvement, and work, but remember the importance of relationships. Take heart in knowing you have the support system to succeed, but only you can take that first step. Love and be loved. It need not be more complicated than that.

You have an important year ahead of you. Make it count, not [just] for others but for you.

Warmly,
Steven
