Reading Day 2

Campus is ever quieter today is students realize that available study time is quickly lapsing as exams near.

To be honest, I wish campus was always like this. Observing that all students are focused on their studies versus their other miscellaneous commitments, we're collectively reminded that we attend an institution of higher education not simply for the recognition of a cultural experience but rather the culmination of an education resulting in a professional degree in our respective fields of study. It's beautiful, really.

I imagine that if students took to their studies with similar fervor throughout the semester, this institution would undoubtedly welcome some of the best and brightest minds in the world in subsequent years. I love the University of Florida and all that is the Gator Nation, but there are some astounding inefficiencies in the distribution of knowledge that solicit correction if greater prestige is to be garnered.

Efficiency is achieved when  institutions operate with perfect knowledge of their resources. In this regard, I argue that many UF students either through ignorance or apathy decline the pursuit of opportunities which may only enrich their own education while marking no external costs to outside parties. More simply stated, we must apply, apply, apply to whatever we can; to do something with our existing spare time rather than define it with video game high scores or total text messages sent. There is greater value in pursuing those objectives which reach outside each of our comfort zones and introduce  new ways of doings and new frames of thought than to become stagnant in our personal and professional development. May they mark each of us better person and the world a better place.

I do apologize for this fervent rhetoric based in economic reasoning.  Kindle to such fire is provided by impending Macroeconomics exam. Alas, I must return to such study.

Thank you for your time and happy studying, Steven.
