I recently went to the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference (FBLA SLC) this past week and I came away with a trophy and a great wealth of knowledge. Advisors, fellow students, and I have planned and looked forward to this trip for months. As things panned out, our expectations did not go disappointed.

On Monday, I came to school for first and second period, and then was chartered off (via charter bus) to Orlando. Upon arrival, check-in was quick and relatively stress-free. We roomed on the eleventh floor with Lakewood Ranch students from down the way. On the whole, the LWR students were kind and courteous. Monday evening stood host to the opening session and all went smoothly. For appearance's sake, the presentation of scheduling and events was organized and professional.

On Tuesday, I attended workshops which offered valuable information regarding online appearance and scholarship searches. The information provided was useful. As well, I witnessed the performances of my fellow peers in their own competitive performances. All students did well. We went to TGIF for Tuesday dinner.

On Wednesday, I woke up early and traveled to Deland for the Florida Vocal Association State Music Performance Assessment (FVA State MPA). Performing in both the Men's Ensemble and River Rhapsody, both groups earned Superiors. Rushing back to Orlando, I attended the FBLA SLC Awards Ceremony and received First Place for Electronic Career Portfolio. Overall, a very productive day.

On Thursday, I went to Islands of Adventures on a school-sponsored field trip to get a behind-the-scenes look of the park. Meeting with the Senior VP of Sales, we learned plenty about the tourism and entertainment businesses as well as the selective advantages and disadvantages of the Universal Parks. Leaving the park at 6:45 PM, I made my drive home safely and went to the school the following day. What a week it was.
